I have been in the sign business for most of the
last 25 years and I have always had a fascination for Neon. Ed Waldrum
gave me the gift of tube bending and for that I will be forever in his
debt. He taught me in six weeks what took him a lifetime to learn. His
course was the most rigorous, intense and thorough experience I have ever
encountered. There were times when I doubted my new endeavor, but his love
for teaching and the impeccable work ethic he displayed during the course,
was motivation enough for me to be successful. |

Since graduation
some four years ago, I have developed a flourishing Neon Business on both
the wholesale and retail markets. There have been many times that I have
had questions and Ed has always taken the time to walk me through the
answers step by step. I have recently built a 1200 square foot facility
fully dedicated to Neon. If you are considering investing in your future,
invest in Ed Waldrum. The return on your investment is perpetual and will
last a lifetime.

Mr. Waldrum’s
one-on-one instruction, small class size, defined curriculum and passion
for bending glass were the motivation that led me to enroll in his six
week neon bending course. Initially, I was overwhelmed with the
technique of bending glass, but having a mentor with fifty years of
experience and a friendly attitude enabled me to persevere. His
classes are conducted with a consistent focus on the art of glass bending
thus enabling students to learn techniques that will only improve with
practice after the class is over. |
 |
My exposure during
this course included leaded glass, classic glass, lead-free glass, bending
various diameters of glass, block letters, script, border tubes and
processing techniques. Additional topics and techniques were covered
but are too numerous to list. Without hesitation I highly recommend the
Ed Waldrum School of Neon and encourage you to give him full
consideration to enhance your career path.

Having completed
Ed Waldrum School of Neon in the summer of 2004, I’d like to share a
few things about the school that may be of benefit to others
interested in learning the art of Neon Bending. Here are some of
the things Ed provided that I found most beneficial:
-
Hands on focus
on developing a foundation of skills necessary for becoming a
proficient glass bender
-
Small class size
allowed for extensive one on one attention
-
Assistance in
selecting the right combination of equipment for setting up a neon
shop
-
Introduction to
a Network of Neon Shops/Benders interested in helping others and
promoting Neon
-
Willingness to
share information and provide assistance before and after the
completion of training

I can’t imagine
how long it would have taken, how frustrating it would have been, or
how many bad habits would have been developed trying to go down this
road on my own. I would suggest to anyone interested in learning
the art of neon to start with a quality school like Ed Waldrum
School of Neon. Before attending Ed’s school, I contacted several of
his former students to get their input on the quality of the school
– Each of them had only positive things to say, and now that I’ve
completed Ed’s school, I’d like to echo those praises.

I got my start in the sign
business and the neon craft from Ed Waldrum’s School of Neon in 1999. Mr.
Waldrum is a skillful, experienced teacher with a lifetime of knowledge to
pass on to his students. He taught me all the things I needed to start my
own neon shop and gave me the confidence to do it. He is always there to
help us out whenever we need his expertise or advice. I have toured
several neon shops around the country and found his school to be as well
equipped and up to date as any of them. Today my sons and I have a
thriving neon sign business because of that great experience. Crossfire
Neon Co. is building a new facility, incorporating, adding new equipment
and joining together in a network of other sign businesses in Western
Massachusetts to expand our wholesale and retail market. Ed has been a
major contributor to me and my family and our business. Thanks Ed. |

It is hard to believe that that over
12months ago I good not produce any usable neon and now I am full
time glass bending and loving it!
I traveled from New
Zealand half way across the world to go to Ed Waldum's School of
neon, as I had heard that he ran a top school with a huge resource
of knowledge. That is the truth, Ed's knowledge on the neon
industry is second to none and his way of teaching is very
organized, I would challenge anyone who would not agree that Ed
can offer the most that any school can offer. Ed taught me
with patient and vigilance and after six weeks of dedication he
was able to send me back to New Zealand where I could set up my
own shop and go into business. I have never looked back, my
business is going very well and every day I think how lucky I was
to have had the chance to be taught by one of the best crafts men
there is --- thanks Ed!
